Securing assets across borders — complex but possible, and often the only option.
Why international seizure?
In cases of foreign investment fraud, the assets are almost always located abroad. Fraudsters deliberately funnel money to foreign companies and bank accounts to keep it out of reach of Dutch creditors. International asset seizure is then the tool to secure these assets before they are moved further or disappear.
How does it work?
International asset seizure requires collaboration with local lawyers in the country concerned. Through requests for mutual legal assistance and local judicial procedures, bank accounts, real estate, and other assets can be seized. Each country has its own procedures and requirements, making the process more complex than domestic seizure.
